Notes

Studio recording, 1998. Scott Lucas used a custom-modded Gibson SG with a separate bass pickup wired to a second output jack, splitting the lowest two strings to an Ampeg SVT for bass reinforcement. Main guitar tone for the riff is through the Matchless 120 Super Chief into Marshall cabs. Pedalboard included Fulltone OCD for distortion, DOD Phaser, and MXR Carbon Copy Delay. No evidence of chorus, flanger, or wah in the riff section. Settings estimated based on amp type, genre, and era due to lack of explicit numbers.

Difficulty

The riff is based on straightforward power chords and driving rhythm, but requires tight muting and attack for the punchy, aggressive sound. The unique dual-output guitar setup adds complexity if replicating the original rig, but the riff itself is accessible to intermediate players.
