Notes

Studio recording, 1975-1976 era. Zappa is seen performing 'Black Napkins' live on The Mike Douglas Show (1976) with the Baby Snakes SG and a modified Pignose amp, which matches the gear used on the studio recording. The Pignose was often run into a larger cab for recording. Zappa's guitar had onboard parametric EQ for tone shaping and feedback control.

Difficulty

The riff requires advanced control of phrasing, feedback, and dynamics, as well as expressive bends and vibrato, making it challenging for most players.
