Studio recording, 2004. Clean tone for 'Boulevard of Broken Dreams' riff/verse sections is achieved by using the CAE 3+ SE tube preamp, bypassing the Marshall amp preamps. The ES-335's piezo system is used to cop acoustic-like clean sounds for this part, as confirmed by Premier Guitar rig rundown. No evidence of live gear or alternate guitars for the studio clean part.
