Notes

Studio recording, 1994. Both Head and Munky used Ibanez Universe 7-strings with DiMarzio Blaze pickups into Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier amps. Pedals included Big Muff (for texture), Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer (for tightening), and sometimes Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor. No evidence of modulation or time-based effects on the riff section. Settings estimated based on era, genre, and amp model.

Difficulty

The riff requires tight, percussive palm muting on a 7-string guitar in low tuning, with precise rhythm and muting to maintain clarity in a high-gain, potentially muddy mix. The technical challenge is above average due to the low tuning and aggressive attack.
