Notes

Studio recording, Abbey Road, 1969. Most sources agree Lennon used his Epiphone Casino through a Fender Twin Reverb for the solo. Some debate exists about possible use of a fuzz pedal (Sola Sound Tone Bender Mk 1.5), but most evidence points to amp overdrive and possible fuzz. No evidence of live performance gear for this solo.

Difficulty

The solo is not technically fast or complex, but requires good control of bends, vibrato, and dynamics to capture the expressive, vocal-like phrasing and edge-of-breakup tone.
