Effects & Signal Chain

Notes

Studio recording, 1977; Joe Strummer used his iconic black 1966 Fender Telecaster through a silverface Fender Twin Reverb for the main riff. No evidence of pedals in the signal chain for the riff section; amp set for clean but aggressive attack. Mick Jones played lead/overdubs but the main riff is Strummer. No evidence of live/tour gear for this recording.

Difficulty

The riff is rhythmically straightforward but requires fast, consistent downstrokes and tight timing to match the punk energy; no complex chord voicings or advanced techniques.
