Studio recording, 1984, Born in the U.S.A. album. Springsteen is known for using his hybrid Esquire/Telecaster through a Fender Bassman or Bassman-style amp for this era. Mesa/Boogie and Marshall cabs were used live, but studio evidence and sources point to Bassman for the original recording. Pedals are minimal; slapback delay is likely from a Boss DD-3 or tape echo. Overdrive/distortion is likely from amp or MXR Distortion+ or Boss OD-3, but only if needed for extra grit.
