Notes

Studio recording, 1979, Van Halen II sessions. Eddie used his Frankenstrat with a single bridge humbucker into a Marshall Super Lead run through a Variac to lower voltage for increased saturation. No evidence of additional distortion pedals in the riff section; effects are minimal and core tone is amp-driven.

Difficulty

The riff demands fast, aggressive picking, tight palm muting, and controlled pick slides, making it challenging for most players.
