Notes

Studio recording, 1994 (Under the Table and Dreaming). Dave Matthews is known for using the Gibson Chet Atkins SST with a piezo pickup and Fishman Prefix Pro Blend preamp for the riff section of 'Dancing Nancies.' The amp is often bypassed in studio for a DI signal, but AER Compact 60 is a common live amp. No evidence of electric guitar or magnetic pickups on the original studio riff.

Difficulty

The riff requires advanced strumming technique, unusual chord shapes (often with thumb over the neck), and precise rhythmic control, making it challenging for most players.
