Notes

Studio recording, 1973. Jerry Garcia's 'Wolf' guitar was used for the 'Wake of the Flood' sessions, with the middle pickup favored for clean rhythm. Amp is a Silverface Fender Twin Reverb, no evidence of distortion pedals for the clean riff. On-board effects loop present but not used for gain in this section.

Difficulty

The riff requires intermediate-level rhythmic precision, muting technique, and dynamic control to achieve the clean, percussive feel characteristic of Garcia's playing on this track.
