Notes

Studio recording, 1980. Paul Weller explicitly states all rhythm parts (main riff) were done with the black Rickenbacker 330 into a Vox AC30, cranked for overdrive, with no pedals used. Overdrive is amp-only. No effects loop or additional pedals. Studio ambience may have been used for reverb, but not from the amp or pedals.

Difficulty

The riff requires fast, tight downstrokes and clean chord transitions at a brisk tempo, but does not involve advanced techniques or complex fingerings.
