Notes

Studio recording, 1991 (Badmotorfinger era, remastered 2016). Gear confirmed for album sessions, not live. Kim Thayil used the Guild S-100 Polara with stock humbuckers through a blend of Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier and Marshall JMP50 amps for solos on Badmotorfinger. No direct evidence for pedals on this specific solo, but fuzz and delay are likely based on era and genre.

Difficulty

The solo requires intermediate lead skills, including expressive phrasing, accurate bends, and maintaining clarity with effects. Delay timing and fuzz sustain add to the technical challenge.
