Effects & Signal Chain

Notes

Studio recording, 1985. Mick Mars used a black Les Paul Custom with a DiMarzio Super Distortion in the bridge for most of the Theatre of Pain album. Multiple Marshall Plexi heads modded by Jose Arredondo were used in the studio, sometimes blended with Hiwatt and Vox amps for tonal layering. No evidence of Soldano or JCM800 on this recording. Effects are inferred from both sources and clear audio evidence.

Difficulty

The solo requires expressive bending, vibrato, and control of sustain, as well as timing to match the delay repeats. While not technically extreme, it demands feel and phrasing typical of intermediate to advanced players.
