Notes

Studio recording, 2005. Daron Malakian used the 1962 Gibson SG Standard for clean and distorted tones on 'Hypnotize.' The amp was a Marshall JMP100, reportedly modded by Dave Friedman. No evidence of pedal use for clean tone; all drive comes from the amp. Pickup and knob settings for clean sections are not explicitly documented.

Difficulty

The clean riff requires precise picking and dynamic control to maintain clarity and articulation, but does not involve advanced techniques or high speed.
