Effects & Signal Chain

Notes

Studio recording, 1995 (Ozzmosis album). Zakk Wylde used his Les Paul Custom with EMG active pickups into a Marshall JCM800 2203. For the riff section, the signal chain included a Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive and a Boss CH-1 Super Chorus, with the chorus used in stereo to split to two amps. No wah or Rotovibe used for this song. Settings are estimated based on typical Zakk Wylde/JCM800 studio usage in the mid-90s and confirmed pedal choices for the Ozzmosis era.

Difficulty

The riff requires tight, aggressive palm muting and precise rhythm work at a medium tempo, with clarity needed despite high gain and stereo effects. The technical challenge is moderate, but not extreme.
