Notes

Studio recording, 2019 (Gold & Grey album). Baroness used Fender Jazzmasters for all tracks, with clean Fender amps and all gain/distortion from pedals. Pedalboard included MXR Super Badass Distortion, Wampler Tumnus, Xotic SP Compressor, and fuzz pedals. Amps were run clean, with all drive from pedals. No evidence of Marshall or high-gain amps for this era/album. Settings estimated based on genre, amp, and artist statements. No evidence of effects loop use.

Difficulty

The riff requires tight, articulate picking with palm muting and dynamic control to maintain clarity through pedal-driven gain, making it moderately challenging for intermediate players.
