Notes

Studio recording, 1974. Brian May's Red Special with custom electronics and a coin (sixpence) as pick. Vox AC30s were used, often multi-tracked. Treble booster pedal in front of amp. No evidence of fuzz or heavy distortion pedals. Phaser effect is audible in the solo. Deacy amp was used for some guitar harmonies but not the main solo.

Difficulty

The solo requires advanced phrasing, vibrato control, and layering of harmonized parts, as well as adapting to the unique attack of a coin pick and integrating modulation effects.
