Notes

Studio recording, 1976. Joe Walsh played the main riff on a Fender Stratocaster through a small Fender Tweed Champ amp. No evidence of pedals for the riff section; Eventide Harmonizer was reportedly used on the solo, not the riff. No evidence of Crate or Boss pedals on the original recording. Settings estimated based on typical Tweed Champ usage for classic rock in the 1970s.

Difficulty

The riff requires fast, precise alternate picking and tight palm muting to maintain its punchy, percussive feel. Dynamic control is needed for the aggressive attack and clarity, making it moderately challenging for intermediate players.
