Notes

Studio recording, 1976 for Hotel California album. Joe Walsh played the solo on a Stratocaster into a Fender Tweed Deluxe. No evidence of pedals for drive; amp was cranked for natural overdrive. Some sources mention Eventide Harmonizer in the studio, but no clear evidence for this solo. Flanging effect is clearly audible and was likely achieved via tape flanging in the studio, not a pedal.

Difficulty

The solo requires fast, accurate picking, tight synchronization with harmonized lines, and dynamic control to achieve the signature articulation and sustain, making it challenging for most intermediate players.
