Notes

Studio recording, 1967, Axis: Bold As Love sessions. The solo section is widely reported to use a Stratocaster into a Fender Vibroverb, routed through a Leslie 145 rotary speaker for the swirling effect. No fuzz or wah is present in the solo section; fuzz is used elsewhere in Hendrix's work but not on this solo. The Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face was present in his studio at the time but is not audibly used here.

Difficulty

The solo requires advanced control of dynamics, nuanced phrasing, and mastery of Hendrix's chordal and melodic techniques, making it challenging for most players.
