Effects & Signal Chain

Notes

Studio recording, 1986. Guitarist Stuart Adamson used a Yamaha SG2000 into a Marshall JCM800 for the riff/distorted sections. No direct evidence of pedal use for distortion; the amp was likely cranked for overdrive. Chorus and delay effects are clearly audible and are a signature part of the Big Country sound. Settings are estimated based on era, amp, and genre as no direct numeric values are found in sources.

Difficulty

The riff requires tight, syncopated picking and strumming, precise timing to match the delay repeats, and control of modulation effects to achieve the signature bagpipe-like sound.
