Notes

Studio recording, 1990, for the album 'Facelift'. Jerry Cantrell used his G&L Rampage with a Duncan JB in the bridge into a Marshall JCM800 modified by Bogner (Bogner Fish preamp). Some sources mention layering with Soldano and Mesa/Boogie amps, but the main distorted riff tone is widely attributed to the Bogner-modded Marshall setup. No evidence of live/touring gear or later amp models for this specific recording.

Difficulty

The riff requires intermediate technique due to its slow tempo but demanding vibrato, dynamic control, and heavy, sustained bends. Palm muting and timing are critical to nail the song's brooding, powerful feel.
