Notes

Studio recording, 2002-2003 era. Both Bill Kelliher and Brent Hinds tracked rhythm guitars for the riff section. Main amps were Orange Thunderverb 200 and Marshall JCM800. No evidence of significant pedal effects in the riff section; distortion is primarily from amp gain. Settings are based on studio-era recommendations and interviews. Pickup choice is bridge for riffing. Pedals like Maxon OD808 or Ibanez Tube Screamer may have been used as a boost, but not always on. No evidence of time-based or modulation effects in the riff section.

Difficulty

The riff requires fast alternate picking, tight palm muting, and precise rhythm changes, making it challenging for most intermediate players.
