Notes

Studio recording, 1981; Robert Fripp played the solo on 'Matte Kudasai' using a Stratocaster into a Roland JC-120. The JC-120 was a staple for clean, chorus-rich tones in the early 80s and is confirmed as Fripp's main amp for the Discipline album. No evidence of additional pedals for the solo; the lush reverb and chorus are from the amp. No evidence of live/tour rig or alternate gear for the studio version.

Difficulty

The solo requires intermediate-level phrasing, expressive vibrato, and dynamic control to achieve the singing, atmospheric tone. While not technically fast or complex, the exposed clean tone demands precision and subtlety.
