Notes

Live performance, mid-late 1980s (post-1985). Mark Knopfler used the Pensa Suhr MK-1 for live renditions of 'Money For Nothing' after the studio recording, paired with the Soldano SLO-100. The live solo tone is distinct from the studio version, with more gain and a slightly more modern edge. Wah pedal set in a fixed position is used to mimic the studio's EQ/filter effect.

Difficulty

The solo requires advanced fingerstyle technique, accurate harmonic execution, and dynamic control to achieve the percussive, vocal-like tone. The combination of right-hand technique and left-hand muting makes it challenging for most players.
