Effects & Signal Chain

Notes

Studio recording, 1975-1976. Tom Scholz used a heavily modified Marshall Plexi with a custom Power Soak attenuator and a prototype chorus/doubler effect. The Rockman was not yet invented; all effects were achieved via pedals, rack units, or studio gear. Guitar is confirmed as a Les Paul on bridge pickup for the solo. No evidence of live rig or alternate guitars for this section.

Difficulty

The solo requires accurate bends, harmonized lines, and expressive vibrato, demanding both technical control and melodic phrasing typical of advanced classic rock solos.
