Notes

Studio recording, Appetite for Destruction sessions (1987). Slash used a 1960 Gibson SG for the riff section of 'My Michelle' for a darker, heavier tone. The amp was a modded Marshall 1959T Super Tremolo, known as S.I.R. #39, with an added master volume and extra preamp gain from the unused tremolo circuit. No evidence of pedals or effects used for the main riff; distortion is from the amp. Settings are based on Slash's tech's statement of 'all settings around 6' as a starting point.

Difficulty

The riff requires tight, fast palm muting and precise alternate picking at a medium-fast tempo, with aggressive attack and syncopated rhythm changes, making it moderately challenging for intermediate players.
