Studio recording, 1982 (Love Over Gold album). Mark Knopfler used a custom Schecter Strat with F500T pickups for the solo. The amp was a Music Man 212-HD 130, as confirmed by period-correct sources and interviews. Effects included an MXR Analog Delay for slapback and a Morley volume pedal. No evidence of additional gain/distortion pedals for the solo section; overdrive is from amp and playing dynamics.
