Notes

Studio recording for 'Sea of Lies' (1996). Michael Romeo used a combination of amps for The Divine Wings of Tragedy era, but for solos, sources indicate the Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier and Line 6 Vetta were used, with the Boogie being the primary for solos. Guitar is the ESP M-II Deluxe with DiMarzio X2N in the bridge. No evidence of 7-string on this track. Effects and pedals are minimal, with a Tube Screamer sometimes used for solo boost. No evidence of chorus, flanger, or wah in the solo section.

Difficulty

The solo requires expert-level technique due to its high speed, intricate tapping/string skipping, and precise synchronization with keyboard lines, making it one of the most challenging solos in progressive metal.
