Notes

Studio recording, 1993, Pachyderm Studios for In Utero. Kurt Cobain used the Mustang for most solos on In Utero. The amp setup was a Mesa/Boogie Studio Preamp (all mids up per interview), Crown power amp, Marshall 4x12 cab. Pedals included Tech 21 SansAmp Classic and Boss DS-2 Turbo Distortion, with the SansAmp being the main distortion source for this album. No evidence of modulation or time-based effects on this solo. All details specific to the studio recording, not live.

Difficulty

The solo is not technically complex but requires expressive bends, dynamic picking, and confident phrasing to capture the raw feel of Cobain's playing.
