Notes

Studio recording, 1998. John Rzeznik used the Guild Songbird for the main riff section of 'Slide' on the Dizzy Up the Girl album. The amp was a Marshall JCM800 2205, with some tracks possibly using a Fender Bassman, but the JCM800 is most consistently cited for this era and song. No evidence of additional pedals or effects in the riff section; the tone is primarily the result of the acoustic-electric guitar through the amp, possibly with some studio EQ/processing. No evidence of live rig or alternate guitars for the studio riff section.

Difficulty

The riff is accessible to intermediate players but requires familiarity with alternate tunings and precise, dynamic strumming to capture the percussive, open sound.
