Notes

Studio recording, 1981 (Escape album). Neal Schon is widely documented using a late-70s Les Paul Custom with a DiMarzio Super Distortion in the bridge into a Marshall JMP 2203 for the Escape album, including 'Stone in Love.' No evidence of live rig or later amp models for the original studio solo.

Difficulty

The solo demands advanced control of phrasing, fast legato and alternate picking, expressive bends, and dynamic vibrato, making it challenging for intermediate players.
