Notes

Studio recording for 'Suck My Kiss' (Blood Sugar Sex Magik, 1991). John Frusciante used his 1962 Fender Stratocaster with stock single-coil pickups into a Marshall Major head. No evidence of other guitars or amps for the riff section in the studio. Live rigs and later tours are not relevant for this recording.

Difficulty

The riff requires tight, syncopated funk-rock rhythm playing with palm muting and dynamic control at a fast tempo. While not technically advanced in terms of lead work, the groove and precision needed make it challenging for intermediate players.
