Notes

Studio recording, c. 1966-1967. Wes Montgomery used the Gibson L-5 CES almost exclusively from 1963 onward, and by the mid-1960s had switched to the Standel Super Custom XV amp for most studio work. No evidence of pedals or external effects; all effects are amp-based. No evidence of live rig for this recording.

Difficulty

The riff requires advanced jazz chord knowledge, Wes's signature octave technique played with the thumb, and precise dynamic control for authentic swing feel, making it challenging for most players.
