Notes

Studio recording, Appetite for Destruction (1987). Clean intro and verse sections were tracked with a Roland JC-120 Jazz Chorus, not a Marshall. Slash confirmed in interviews that only the clean parts used the JC-120; all distorted/solo parts used Marshall. Pickup selector: neck pickup with tone knob rolled back. No evidence of pedals or additional effects for the clean section except the amp's built-in chorus and reverb.

Difficulty

The clean intro/verse requires accurate alternate picking and muting to keep the arpeggios clear and articulate, but does not involve advanced techniques or high speed.
