Notes
Studio recording, 1991. For 'Territorial Pissings' riff, Cobain plugged his Mustang directly into the Neve mixing desk using a Pro Co Rat pedal for distortion. No amp or amp effects were used on the main riff recording.
Tone Character(10)
extremely aggressive and bitingraw, uncompressed fuzzinesspiercing upper midsrazor-sharp attacktight and percussiveslightly fizzy top endsaturated, compressed sustainin-your-face, direct soundno ambience or reverbunfiltered punk energy
Difficulty
The riff is fast and requires aggressive, accurate power chord strumming with little room for error due to the exposed, raw tone. While not technically complex, the tempo and energy demand tight execution.
