Notes

Studio recording, 2008, Death Magnetic sessions. Clean riff section. Hetfield used the ESP Truckster with EMG 60 in neck position for cleans. Mesa/Boogie Mark IIC+ amp was used for clean and heavy tones in studio. No evidence of pedal use for clean section; clean achieved via amp channel.

Difficulty

The clean riff requires accurate arpeggiated picking and string skipping, with precise timing and dynamic control to maintain clarity and avoid unwanted noise.
