Notes

Studio recording, 1966 (album released 1967). Peter Green used his 'Greeny' Les Paul with the neck pickup installed out-of-phase, plugged directly into a Marshall JTM45 head (KT66 tubes) and 4x12 cab. No evidence of pedals or external effects; sustain achieved via volume, feedback, and amp settings. Plate reverb added in studio mix, not via pedal or amp.

Difficulty

The solo requires advanced control of feedback, sustain, and expressive phrasing, with slow, melodic lines demanding precise vibrato and bending. Achieving the haunting sustain and dynamic touch is challenging even for experienced players.
