Effects & Signal Chain

Notes

Studio recording, 1996 (Billy Breathes album). Trey Anastasio is known to use his Languedoc G2 with custom-wound humbuckers into a Mesa/Boogie Mark III for clean and edge-of-breakup tones in this era. No direct evidence for pedal use on the 'Waste' riff, but compression is likely always on in his signal chain.

Difficulty

The riff is based on simple chord shapes and slow tempo, but requires clean, even dynamics and smooth transitions between chords.
