Notes

Studio recording for 'Whisper' on the 2003 album 'Fallen'. Ben Moody used a Jackson DKMG with EMG 81 pickups into a Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier Trem-o-Verb. Producer Dave Fortman mentions A/B'ing Marshall JCM800 and Mesa/Boogie amps for stereo width, but the Mesa/Boogie is confirmed for at least one rhythm side. No evidence of pedal use in the riff section; high-gain amp tone. No evidence of effects loop or additional pedals for the riff.

Difficulty

The riff requires tight, aggressive palm muting with fast alternate picking and precise timing to maintain the percussive, heavy sound typical of early 2000s metal. No advanced lead techniques, but rhythmic accuracy and stamina are essential.
