Notes

Studio recording, 1989 (Heart Shaped World album). The main riff was played by James Calvin Wilsey using a Silvertone 1446 with mini-humbuckers into a Silverface Fender Twin Reverb. Delay was used for the haunting, atmospheric effect. No evidence of other pedals or effects in the riff section.

Difficulty

The riff requires clean, controlled picking and subtle vibrato, with careful timing to match the delay repeats. Technically not complex, but musical sensitivity and touch are essential for the haunting, atmospheric sound.
