Notes

Studio recording, 1988-1989. Gary Holt used his three Todd Langner-modded Marshall JCM800s for the album 'Fabulous Disaster' (which includes 'Within the Walls of Chaos'). The amps were serviced just before this album and are noted for their aggressive sound. No evidence of live rig or later amp changes for this specific recording. Guitar is a Jackson King V with Seymour Duncan humbuckers. Effects loop used for EQ and noise gate. No time-based or modulation effects audible or cited for riff section.

Difficulty

The riff section requires fast, precise alternate picking and tight palm muting at high gain, with complex rhythm patterns and string skipping typical of late-80s thrash metal.
