Studio recording, 1976. Guitar was the Hendrix-burned Stratocaster, amp was a Fender Deluxe Reverb. No evidence of live rig or other guitars/amps for the riff section. Zappa was known for using custom electronics and parametric EQs, but no evidence these were used on the main riff. Effects chain for the riff appears minimal.
